I recently bought a huge watermelon, but I didn’t realize exactly how huge until I was cleaning it.

It just kept going, and going, and going. It was multiplying on the cutting board, I swear. But I wasn’t worried about what to do with it all because I can eat my weight in it, and I knew I’d freeze extra for slushies.

As a nice bonus, if you’re using frozen fruit in smoothies and slushies you don’t need to add ice which just waters them down. The slushies can be made with our without alcohol, but it’s a holiday so I say go for it. Even if it’s not a holiday, I say go for it.

The lemon adds a bright tartness to the sweet watermelon and the slushies are incredibly refreshing. They go down fast, easy, and you’ll want a refill before you know it. Sadly, I know this was probably the last watermelon of the season. But it just made the slushies taste extra special.
