Don’t you hate it when you find a recipe you want to try, but you’re missing one of the ingredients? Who wants to run to the store for just one ingredient? So frustrating! The great news is, that many times the item can be made from scratch! It tastes better that way, and usually you’d be surprised how easy it is! Like my homemade substitute for canned “cream of anything” soup. It’s made up of the most simple ingredients — milk, cornstarch, butter, seasonings — and tastes soo much better than the canned stuffed. Homemade egg noodles is another great example! Just 4 easy ingredients — milk, flour, eggs and salt — and the end result is delicious. I honestly don’t have a problem with packaged onion soup mix. I’ve used it several times in my slow cooker pot roast, when I’m in a hurry. But I love that I can whip together this homemade onion soup mix recipe whenever I need it. The cast of charecters are simple, and hopefully ones you already have in your spice rack: Dry onion flakes, beef bullion granules or paste, onion powder, parsley, celery seed, paprika, black pepper.
Just mix everything together and you’re ready to go! Use in any recipe that calls for one package/envelope of dry onion soup mix, or use it to make a delicious dip for chips or veggies. Just mix with one pint of sour cream. FOLLOW ME on FACEBOOK, TWITTER, INSTAGRAM and PINTEREST for more great recipes!
