Why I love this recipe:
Quick – Once the cake is baked, this comes together really quickly, and it’s easy enough for any beginner cook. Delicious – This dessert is perfect for any chocolate lover. It’s delicious and the flavor combination is perfect. For the best chocolate trifle, I recommend using homemade chocolate pudding and cake! Crowd Pleaser – It serves 12 people, and is always a huge it.
How to make Triple Chocolate Trifle:
Make Chocolate Pudding and Chocolate Cake. Crush the heath bars into small chunks. Cut Cake into small cubes. (You can use a cake mix for the cake, or make it from scratch, just be sure to bake it in a 9×13” pan so it’s easier to cut into cubes). Whip Cream: Place whipping cream in a large mixing bowl then beat with electric beaters for 1-2 minutes. Slowly add the powdered sugar and continue beating until stiff peaks form. Set aside. Assemble: Layer ⅓ of the cake cubes in the bottom of a trifle dish then dollop ⅓ of the pudding mixture over the cake. Sprinkle ⅓ of the heath bar pieces over the pudding then spread ⅓ of the whipped cream over the heath bars. Repeat with two more layers. Refrigerate trifle for 1-2 hours before serving. Enjoy!
Storage and Make Ahead Instructions:
To Make Ahead: Assemble the trifle several hours or 1 day ahead of time. You can also make the pudding and chocolate cake 2-3 days ahead of time and store them in fridge until ready to assemble. To Store: Store the chocolate trifle covered, in the refrigerator for 1-2 days.
Recipe Variations:
Chocolate Trifle with Brownies: Use homemade brownies instead of chocolate cake. Oreo Chocolate Trifle: Add crushed Oreo cookies, instead of heath candy bars. Peanut Butter Chocolate Trifle: Add Reese’s peanut butter cups, chopped, in place of heath candy bars. Fruit Trifle Peppermint Brownie Trifle
