Easy Chicken Green Bean Stir Fry Recipe
This easy chicken stir fry recipe has everything I look for in a weeknight dinner. It’s quick (ready in 25-30 minutes), made in one skillet, and there are plenty of green beans so I’ve got my protein + veggies all in one! Steamed rice on the side for some carbs and we’re set. The stir fry sauce is sweet, savory, and perfectly thick – just like your favorite takeout place! Sweet chili sauce forms the base of the stir fry sauce. If you’re unfamiliar with sweet chili sauce, it’s super flavorful but isn’t spicy so don’t be scared of the ½ cup that’s in this recipe. Soy sauce adds saltiness, rice vinegar adds tang, and because I wanted this chicken and green bean stir fry to be as easy as possible I used ground ginger and garlic powder instead of fresh. Spoon the string bean chicken stir fry over white or brown rice, quinoa, or rice noodles. It’s a filling yet mostly healthy recipe that doesn’t skimp on flavor in the slightest!
Ingredients Needed
To make the chicken, green beans, and stir-fry sauce, you’ll need the following easy to find ingredients:
Boneless skinless chicken breasts (or chicken thighs) Cornstarch – Don’t skip this because it gives the chicken a very lightly crispy crust when you sear it, much lighter than if it’s breaded with breadcrumbs. It helps create the perfect texture! Oil – Vegetable, canola, or olive oil to sear the chicken. If you like sesame oil, adding 1 tbsp to the stir fry sauce will give great flavor! Fresh green beans Yellow onion Salt Pepper Sweet chili sauce Low-sodium soy sauce Brown sugar Rice vinegar – may also be labeled ‘rice wine vinegar’ (same thing) Garlic powder Ground ginger Red pepper flakes – optional but recommended for a touch of heat
