And I can see Honey, our neighborly golden retriever, walking down the unplowed street while trying to lick at the snow landing on her face and making the whole world an infinitely better place with a bouncy-waggy tail and her biggest ever dog smile....
I planned, invited, prepped, hosted, and managed six people baking holiday cookies together in a new (but still small) kitchen in December, and no one cried, and we all took home a few cookie tins of Christmas cookies to binge eat I MEAN SHARE at holiday get togethers in the next few weeks, and I restrained myself from eating all the caramel corn before the end of the day. These were some of the flowers I passed on my walk over. It was a gorgeous weekend for an outdoor festival! Ok, it’s actually a smidge too chilly for me with no humidity and “only” 69F temps but I know most people think that’s perfect. Add 20 degrees and I’ll be happier. The festival was held a local Greek Orthodox Church. I run or walk by this Church almost daily and finally had my camera with and could make some photos....
This pineapple grilled chicken recipe tastes like a trip to Hawaii minus the airfare. Okay kidding, sort of. I called this recipe “Aloha chicken” because the chicken has notes of soy sauce but with hint of brown sugar to mellow the saltiness along with lemon juice and ginger. If you’ve never had this fruity Malibu drink, you really should change that. Someone will say they don’t like coconut, but I don’t think it tastes ridiculously coconutty. Coconut Malibu tastes like what a tropical vacation would taste like! Technically this fruity drink is traditionally made with a splash of cranberry, but I didn’t have any and wasn’t going to buy any for a splash. Just use more grenadine. Scratch that....
The last few weekends were rainy but this one is supposed to be clear as a bell with temps in the high 60s or low 70s. I’ll take that, yes please, don’t mind if I do. There’s a pre-Mardi Gras street party and one-day festival in our neighborhood that may be fun to attend for the spectacular people-watching component alone. I’m sure the beads will be flying, the liquor will be flowing, and there will be lots of shirtless men....
